This special rhubarb menu in Abu Dhabi looks delicious

La Petite Maison has gone rhubarb crazy

As one of the latest ingredients to be classed as a superfood, rhubarb is one of the coolest things around at the moment (well, in the foodie world anyway).

Low in calories, but high in fibre and vitamins and rumoured to help aid weight loss, the pink plant has everything going for it.
But we’re not talking about pulling a stick out of the garden and dipping it in sugar like you used to do at your grandma’s house (we know we did…).

This plant (it’s technically classed as a vegetable, if you’re interested) is now used in a range of fancy dishes, and none are more fancy and delicious than the ones on the rhubarb menu at La Petite Maison.

The high-end French restaurant is embracing rhubarb season by offering a special seasonal starter, main, dessert and a couple of mixed drinks, all infused with the vibrant pink plant. The dishes are only on offer while the season lasts, which should be until the end of September into early October.

To start with, try seared scallops with cauliflower, capers, and rhubarb (pictured above). This pretty pile is full of bold flavours and fresh ingredients, and it looks absolutely beautiful.

Next, the distinctive taste of grilled pigeon is paired perfectly with tart rhubarb in the main course, while the meal ends with a wonderful, creamy panna cotta served with yet more rhubarb (we know, you wouldn’t have guessed) and fresh almonds.

The vibrant ingredient is also added to a two mixed drinks. One is a mix of rhubarb, elderflower and raspberry dust, while the other contains a premium beverage, rhubarb cordial, coconut water and lemonade. Both sound ideal for washing down your meal.

The menu is available for lunch and dinner, and we can already tell that rhubarb is set to be our next obsession.
