Kids author Colette Barr is releasing her third book with an event in Jumeirah

The Eco-heroes and The Plastic Planet is launching on September 21

The Eco-heroes and The Plastic Planet is Colette Barr’s third book in her environmental literary series about a group of friends intent on saving the world – starting with the UAE.

The local author will be attending the launch of the latest instalment at Magrudy’s in Jumeirah on Saturday October 21, where there’ll also be loads of activities for kids.

The little environmentalists are back and on a new mission to tackle the devastation caused by single use plastics.

The main characters hail from the UAE, India, Europe and South Africa – representing the UAE’s main nationalities – and in this adventure, head girl Sundos takes centre stage, joined by her brother Ahmed, and friends Rudi, Finlay, and Maria.

When the group goes on a trip to the beach, their day out has some eye-opening consequences and they learn valuable lessons about why we all need to use less plastic.

The book aimed at six- to ten-year-olds, is a fun and witty read touching on traditional culture, family and friendship, whilst at the same time delivering a clear message on plastic pollution and ocean conservation.

And in a true show of practising what you preach, they stories are all produced sustainably – written, illustrated and printed in the UAE using recycled paper and vegetable inks from local suppliers.

Free (book launch). Sat Oct 21, 4pm-6pm. Magrudy’s, Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai.
Dhs50 (book). Available at Magrudy’s book stores and www.saveourworld.me.
