UAE in space: Astronaut Hazza Al Mansoori undergoing tests and set to return to UAE

Historic mission continues, before long-anticipated homecoming for the region’s first astronaut

Exactly a week ago, the UAE’s first-ever astronaut (and the first-ever Arab astronaut, too) touched down back on Earth following an eight-day mission in space at the International Space Station.

Hazza Al Mansoori completed his successful trip following his landing in Kazakhstan alongside fellow astronauts from the US and Russia. And now Dubai Media Office has confirmed that Al Mansoori is currently undergoing medical evaluation and testing, with the further aim of understanding more about the effects of microgravity on the human body – with this giving us additional insight on humans of Arabic heritage.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre has confirmed that, following the conclusion of the tests, Al Mansoori will return to the UAE this weekend. Due to return home to the UAE on Saturday October 12.

We’re expecting more news on the return of Hazza Al Mansoori, and we’ll keep you right up to date on any homecoming events and celebrations that follow.
