The Shangri-La Hotel is celebrating Chinese crab season with exciting dishes

Here’s what’s on offer in November

Seasonal food is fantastic, whether it’s the first strawberries of spring or fresh winter scallops, it’s all good for us and sustainable, too.

Fancy some fresh seafood that’s in season? We think we know the place.

Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi is celebrating hairy crab season and although the shellfish sounds a bit peculiar we’re told it’s delicious.

While we don’t find the prefix ‘hairy’ particularly appetizing we’re willing to give this festival a go having heard the dishes on offer.

Shipped fresh from Yangcheng Lake in China, Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi has imported the hairy crab to the capital for a specially crafted menu.

Being served at Shang Palace, the special menu includes steamed hairy crab and lobster dumplings with caviar, steamed chili hairy crab shell, crispy avocado hairy crab wafer and hairy crab balls in double-boiled soup.

We’re definitely intrigued and we’d eat almost anything in dumpling form if we’re being honest.

We’ll see you there, we’ll be the ones showing off our chopstick skills.
Prices vary. November 1-30. Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi, Al Maqta (02 509 8555).
