Twelve cool things to do in Abu Dhabi this weekend

Watch scenes from 1,000 movies in two hours at Louvre Abu Dhabi this month

A special screening is being held on Saadiyat Island

The world loves things a little meta and Abu Dhabi is no different.

Taking pictures of people taking pictures, sending emails to complain about sending emails, and let’s not get started on memes.

But what about watching a movie featuring clips from films of actors going to the cinema?

If you fancy a different cinema-going experience the Louvre Abu Dhabi has you covered this month with a special screening of Have You Seen My Movie?

The film, released in 2016, features scenes from over 1,000 films where characters go to the cinema to watch a film.

Spanning genres and the history of film, the movie celebrates the experience of getting to the cinema, finding seats and sitting in the dark (with snacks of course) to see something on screen.

Included in the film are scenes from the films Taxi Driver, The Aviator, Annie Hall, The Last Action Hero, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, The Green Mile, Fight Club and many more.

The screening, taking place On Wednesday December 18, is free of charge but museum entry must be purchased.

You can reserve your ticket ahead of the screening by visiting www.louvreabudhabi.ae.

Seats will also be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis so if you’re late (a movie going sin) then you’ll have to settle for what’s left, if there are any seats left at all.

We can’t wait to see this one.
Free (Dhs60 museum entry). Dec 18, 6pm. Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island (600 565 566).
