Christmas in Abu Dhabi: The hotel with a tree decorated by local artists

The Festive Tolerance Tree is in the lobby of The Abu Dhabi EDITION

The Abu Dhabi EDITION has created a special Christmas tree in collaboration with local artists.

To mark the end of the UAE’s Year of Tolerance, it has put up a Festive Tolerance Tree, which will be in the lobby of the Al Bateen hotel until the new year.

It is decorated with sustainable, hand-crafted baubles, each one featuring a design by an artist from the region.

The artists involved include Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, an Emirati multidisciplinary artist, Marwa Elsherbiny, an Egyptian visual artist living in the UAE who curates abstract art and textile design, Niall Conlon, an Irish artist based in the UAE who specialises in expressionism and cubist artist, Noor Al Suwaidi, an artist, curator and cultural producer Maitha Hazza, an aspiring artist from Abu Dhabi, Gemma Gallagher, an award winning artist based in the UAE, Hosanna Lee, an illustrator and watercolour artist based in Dubai, Hassa Al Mazrouei, a locally based artist skilled in woodwork and paint and Moaza Matar, a watercolourist and reportage illustrator.

Al Suwaidi says: “It was such a pleasure to be invited to participant in The Abu Dhabi EDITION’s ‘art-meets-Christmas’ project, it embraces the spirit of the UAE and its Year of Tolerance and gives artists a chance to participate and embrace and celebrate the holiday.”

We can’t wait it check it out ourselves.
