Road closures announced for New Year’s Eve in Abu Dhabi

Plan ahead before travelling

New Year’s Eve is here and it’s going to be a big one in Abu Dhabi.

There are lots of parties, dinners and events taking place and a host of fireworks displays happening in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.

There’s even a concert from RnB superstar Bruno Mars on Yas Island, so there’s really no excuse for staying home this year.

Heading out into Abu Dhabi for New Year’s Eve?

It’s best to plan ahead as some road closures will be in place until January 1, which is also a public holiday.

The two bridges connecting Abu Dhabi to Al Maryah Island will be closed from 8pm on New Year’s Eve to 1am on January 1.

Both bridges bridges from Zayed the First Street and Hamdan Street to Maryah Island will also be closed during this time.

Congestion will be expected in Al Zahiyah, so if you’re travelling downtown, to the Corniche or to Al Maryah Island and Reem Island it’s best to plan ahead to avoid delays.

Whatever you get up to, Happy New Year from the Time Out Abu Dhabi team.

We’ll see you in 2020.
