Alcohol-free hotel hits the capital

Khalidiyah Palace Rayhaan opens its doors next week

A flurry of new hotel openings in Abu Dhabi over coming months begins with the launch of Rotana’s Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan next Wednesday.

The five-star stopover, located opposite the Emirates Palace, will have 221 rooms and 222 serviced apartments. But guests looking for a tipple should probably book a room elsewhere as Khalidiya Palace will be one of the few hotels in the capital not to serve any alcohol.

However, its owners have promised a number of quality food and beverage outlets, including Horizon, an all-day dining international restaurant, seafood eatery The Beach and Sunset Bar, which will serve juices and smoothies.

General manager Alain Kropf said he didn’t think that the lack of alcoholic beverages would dissuade visitors from staying there. He said the target market was visitors from GCC countries, although he had also received inquiries from Russia and Europe.

Other new hotels earmarked for opening in the next few months include the Grand Millennium by Al Wahda Mall, Rocco Forte on Airport Road and the Grand Hyatt at the leaning Capital Gate Centre.
