Autumn colours gone bling

The Chic Lady Show is on the horizon, back for a second year at Adnec. Here’s what to expect…

With the summer now beating a hasty retreat, promoters across the city are beginning to announce plans for their autumn schedules. We spoke to Ghassan Kamal of Al Hader Exhibitons and Conferences about the second annual Chic Lady Show, a fashion extravaganza to take place at Adnec between October 14 and 18.

Is there a strong enough local fashion scene to support this?
Yes, because all of our exhibitors are exhibiting local fashion items and other products related to beauty, and we’re attended by fashionable Emirati actresses such as Aryam and Awtar.

Who are the leading local designers?
The Chic Lady Show 2009 was attended by famous Emirati fashion designers such as Mona Al Mansouri, Khadija Abdul-Basit, Shamsa Al Mazrui, Hasna Al Maliki, Hanadi Badu and Iman Al Mansouri.

Are there any well known international designers attending?
The Chic Lady Show 2009 was attended by a number of leading Emirati businesswomen and a selection of eminent designers such as Hazar Taha (Lebanon), Manal Ajaj (Syria), Nasser Al-Hashimi (Bahrain), Reem Adnan (Lebanon), Ahmed Msraba (Syria) and Amer Kamal (Syria).

Is there anything for men to be interested in?
For men, nothing especially, because the event is an extraordinary beauty service and fashion show for women. But they are also most welcome to visit the show.

What can we expect at the event itself?
The Chic Lady Show 2010 will present catwalk shows daily from selected famous Emirati fashion designers and other eminent designers. The event will include the presence of a number of guests of honor from the media, arts and business world, in addition to fashion shows, music that can be associated with the fashion shows and – throughout the event – the presence of interviews via television. There will also be specialized teams presenting dances from weddings.
