You can now order a deep-fried Mars bar in Abu Dhabi

The legendary dish is here at last

Some things go down in legend when it comes to food.

Back in the mid 1990s, a small chip shop in Stonehaven, Scotland, started to offer a fried sweet treat that would become infamous: the deep-fried Mars bar.

Nearly three decades later you can now try this calorific dish at one of Abu Dhabi’s newest eateries, located on Reem Island.

The Chippy, which recently opened its doors in the capital, serves up traditional fish and chips as well as pies, chicken and a host of Irish and British groceries.

Also on the menu, if you want to try something different is the deep-fried Mars bar, a dish that is rumoured to have upwards of 600 calories.

A deep fried Mars bar will set you back Dhs15, or you can add a scoop of ice cream and chocolate sauce for Dhs19.

Ok, it’s not quite fine-dining but we’re really tempted to try it.
From Dhs15. Daily noon-midnight. The Chippy, Mangrove Place, Reem Island (058 534 7643)
