Three climbing experiences for kids to try in the UAE

An exhilarating family day out

CLYMB Abu Dhabi
OK, so this one is indoor, but that just means there’s no reason for kids to be on their iPads even in the summer. CLYMB offers a range of climbing experiences to cater to thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities, including SUMMYT, a 43 metre climbing wall that is the tallest indoor climbing wall in the world.
From 95. Sun-Thu, noon-9pm; Fri-Sat noon-11pm. Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, www.clymbabudhabi.com.

Dorell Sports
At 15 metres, this is the highest climbing wall in Dubai. Mini climbers will be given a one-to-one lesson during which the instructor will provide them with a pair of climbing shoes, secure them into a harness, and explain which colour holds they need to use for hand and foot grips.
From Dhs60. Sun-Thu 2pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 2pm-9pm. Dubai World Trade Centre Hotel Apartments Block C, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, www.dorellsports.com (04 306 5061).

Wire World Adventure Parks
We love Kite Beach, but as well as the obvious playing in the sea and on the sand, energetic kiddos can scramble across two awesome obstacle courses. There is the Acro Branch Junior for tiny tots (minimum height is 1 metre)  and the Swinging Tarzan – a two-level rope course with a zipline at the end – for older kids over 1.2 metres that takes around 30 minutes
to complete.
Dhs40 (Acro Branch Junior for two rounds), Dhs75 (Swinging Tarzan for one round). Daily 9.30am-9.30pm. Kite Beach, Dubai, www.kitebeach.ae (04 559 4889).
