6 new movies to see in UAE cinemas this weekend

New horror, action, drama and more

If you love the movies as much as we do (few people do) then you’re already hungry to find out which movies are coming out this weekend.

We have good news: There are a whopping six new movies to see in UAE cinemas this weekend, and they look incredible.

From a drama starring Will Smith, to a horror film about a pair of scary drifters, to a family-friendly film featuring a big red character everyone loves, there’s something for everyone in cinemas this weekend.

Ready your popcorn-shoveling hand, it’s time to go to the movies.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Hello? It’s your childhood calling – Clifford the Big Red Dog has been turned into a feature film and the child in all of us is giddy. Middle schooler Emily Elizabeth is struggling to fit in at home and at school, when she discovers a small red puppy. When Clifford becomes a gigantic red dog in her New York City apartment, he attracts the attention of a nefarious genetics company. Emily and her clueless Uncle Casey have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Our hearts are already warm.

King Richard

King Richard is a film that follows the life of Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard. He’s driven by a clear vision of their future with a plan to take Venus and Serena from the streets of Compton, California to the global stage as legendary icons. The movie shows the power of family, perseverance and unstoppable belief. The film stars Will Smith, and was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Coming Home in the Dark

Looking for a horror that will put you on the edge of your seat? In this film, a family is taken by a pair of ruthless drifters on a nightmare road trip and the father is forced to confront a brutal act from his past. We’re getting nervous just watching the trailer.

Counter Attack

Based on the trailer, we’re not exactly sure what this film is about, but we know there are bullets, explosions, fights and all the great things you expect with an action movie. Lou is a dangerous international mercenary hired to protect a European oil project. After surviving a vicious attack, he finds himself framed for crimes he hasn’t committed which triggers a race to elude assassins while trying to clear his name.

To Olivia

Love historical dramas? If you’re a fan of famous author Roald Dahl (the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda) or the actress Patricia Neal, you can’t miss this film. In 1962, Patricia Neal and Roald Dahl retreat to the English countryside to bring up their young family. The unlikely pair find their relationship put to the test by an unexpected loss.

Dangerous

Another good old fashioned action film is hitting UAE cinemas this weekend. Dangerous is about a man who heads to a remote island after the death of his brother. When the island falls under siege from a deadly gang of mercenaries, he finds out their role in his brother’s demise, and goes on a relentless quest for vengeance.
