Forget about that trip to Acapulco. There’s no need to jet to Mexico to experience its kicking flavours now that Amerigos Bar & Restaurant has relaunched.
That’s right, Yas Plaza Hotels has relaunched one of Abu Dhabi’s favourite Mexica joints. And it is ready to welcome hungry amigos and amigas to the fiesta. It is definitely a party, complete with never-ending lively energy, songs and salsa.
Of course, we cannot forget about those famous Mexican flavours. Amerigos Bar & Restaurant has a brand new menu fired up by new chef Mario Bortoni Cotera. Hailing for Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he is bringing fresh and flavourful takes on beloved Mexican dishes including ceviche, burritos, enchiladas and tacos, of course. Cotera combines recipes he learned from his family with modern touches for dishes that will leave you wanting another bite, and another.
The full experience is completed with plenty of opportunities to update your Insta feed thanks to modern pop art and interpretations of Mexican icons decorating the walls around Amerigos.
There’s even a Mercadito, or mini-market, which opens every Thursday from 8pm. Venture out to the poolside spot to go on a new gastronomic journey. Packages start at only Dhs179 (soft) and include a delicious Mexican feast, with traditional guacamole to start, followed by nachos, Peruvian ceviche and ensalada Amerigos. For mains, tuck into a selection of grill favourites, including chicken fajitas with tortilla, beef anticuchos or lamb T-bone. Be sure to leave room dessert. Churros are on the menu, along with flan de cajeta and fresh fruit salad.

The fiesta continues on Fridays with the Acapulco brunch, running from noon to 4pm. Everyone’s beloved weekend meal gets some Mexican flavour. Inspired by seaside delicacies, graze on a four-course meal, beginning with salmon ceviche, grilled shrimps with flavourful mains like beef ribs, grilled salmon and grilled chicken. Can’t get enough of nachos? They’re delivered to the table throughout the meal. Another thing that doesn’t stop is the entertainment. Get your maracas out, put on a sombrero and vibe along with your friends to a live singer. You and the gang are in for a fun fiesta.
