Making sure your car tyres are in good working order is especially important during the hot summer months, and Abu Dhabi Police has revealed that some 22,000 vehicles were in violation of safety standards in the first half of the year. So make sure you check your air pressure regularly and spend a few dirhams to replace them if you need to – and most importantly, don’t speed, because driving too fast on hot roads makes ancient tyres more likely to puncture. And that’ll potentially cost you a lot more than the Dhs200 fine you have to pay for old tires, anyway.
