Roll up aspiring secret agents, because the home of 007 will be opening its doors for the general public to have a nose about.
Pinewood Studios, the studio home of the James Bond franchise, including No Time to Die, and a multitude of Hollywood blockbusters, has been given the green light for its £500 million ($570 million) expansion plan.
Pinewood’s 32,500-square-metre expansion plan, Screen Hub UK, will be a “global growth hub” for British film based on a plot adjacent to its current 77-acre complex. The plans are in an early stage of development but will include a visitor attraction, new production facilities, and a training and skills hub.
Also on the cards are new studio spaces, continuing to fuel the UK’s status as Hollywood’s current home-from-home, and plans to “extensively enhance the ecology and biodiversity of the area around the development”.
“The decision allows us to continue our ongoing investment in the Studios and support for the UK film and television industries,”’ says Paul Golding, chairman of Pinewood Group. “We now have the opportunity of creating a world-class training centre and film-inspired visitor attraction.”
No word on likely opening dates yet, but we’ll share more info as we get it.
