Free parking in Abu Dhabi for New Year’s Day 2022

There are no toll charges either

Parking is free in Abu Dhabi for all of Saturday January 1 in celebration of the New Year.

Looking for yet another reason to celebrate this New Year’s long weekend in Abu Dhabi? We have great news. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced that parking in the capital will be free of charge for all of Saturday January 1, 2922 until 8am on Sunday January 2.

The Mussafah Industrial area parking lot M18 will also be free of charge during that day, and the Darb toll gate system will be free of charge during January 1 as well. Toll gate charges will resume on Sunday January 2 during the usual peak hours (from 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm).

ITC’s Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on Saturday January 1 and will resume on Monday January 3. If you need to use the services, you can go online to ITC’s website and the Darbi and Darb websites and apps.

Public bus services will operate based on the unified schedule, and ferry services will run between Jebel Al Dhanna Port and Dalma Island and between Saadiyat and Al Aliah Islands as usual

The long weekend and New Year’s Day holiday follow the UAE government’s announcement that federal government employees will work from Monday to Thursday with a half day on Friday starting in 2022.

The new system gives federal government employees an eight-hour workday on Monday to Thursday. The day will start at 7.30am and end at 3.30pm. They will also work for four-and-a-half hours on Friday, from 7.30am to noon.

Friday sermons and prayers will be held after 1.15pm all year long in the UAE. There will also be flexible working hours and work-from-home options on Fridays.
