Imagine falling asleep as you pull out of beautiful Prague and waking up 800km later in EU capital and waffle-and-hops-hub Brussels. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, next year this is set to become a reality thanks to a new batch of sleeper trains.
Netherlands-based operator European Sleeper has just confirmed the route of the new night service. You’ll be able to leave Brussels at 7pm, stop off in places like Antwerp, Amsterdam and Dresden, before arriving in Prague at 10am. The plan is for the trains to run every other day, moving to daily if there’s demand. The route will connect four European capitals: Brussels and Prague, but also Berlin en route, and London if you change on to a Eurostar service.
Excitingly, European Sleeper is planning to introduce several new night services across the continent over the coming years, with the next being a 2023 route from Belgium all the way to Warsaw. All services, including the Brussels-Prague line, will of course include free wi-fi, coffee and breakfast.
But you know what’s coolest of all? Apparently a single trip from one of these trains will produce 75 fewer tonnes of carbon than the equivalent plane journey. That means you’ll both be having a right good time and doing your bit for the planet while you’re at it. Bang on.
So, if you like you the sound of all that? Tickets for summer 2022 will go on sale in April next year – and you can find out more here.
