KOTA Skatepark to open in Sharjah this year

Pro park will feature ramps for all levels, a pump track and kids’ section

Love to skate? Grab your board and helmet because the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the development of a new pro skatepark in Sharjah, and it looks pretty gnarly.

The park will open alongside Sharjah’s upcoming beach destination, Al Hira Beach. Both the beach and skatepark are set to open early this year, and we can’t wait to strap on our elbow pads.

The skatepark is part of a partnership between Shurooq and four-time world scooter champion Dakota “Kota” Schuetz. Kota is bringing his design concept to the new park, which aims to be accessible to all types of skaters, extreme-sports enthusiasts and kids of all ages.

KOTA Skatepark will feature different ramps for all levels and roller sports, including skateboarding, roller skating, scootering and BMX. There will also be a special pump track around the outside of the skatepark, which will act as a dedicated section for kids to learn to skate safely.

Al Hira Beach is set to be a massive family-friendly and environmentally-friendly destination in the emirate. The beach project will include children’s playgrounds, restaurants and cafés.

Dakota Schuetz said: “We look forward to welcoming visitors and all riders in the UAE to experience the unique design of the skatepark, in addition to the pump track around the outside of the new park, which will be made for kids to race around and have an enjoyable experience.”

Sounds like KOTA Skatepark will have the skater scene on lock. We’re rolling in as soon as it’s open.

Opening soon, Sharjah.
