Angela Beitz visits Anantara Spa at Emirates Palace to try out an indulgent couple’s treatment.

Step-by-step
Like the rest of Emirates Palace, the Anantara Spa is elegant, opulent and an absolute haven away from the real world. We are warmly greeted at reception and asked to fill out a form to let our therapists know if we have any concerns or medical issues.
The spa is large and decorated in an Arabian Nights meets Morocco theme. We are led upstairs to one of the couple’s treatment rooms, which is large and, quite simply, stunning. We change into a robe and slippers and then sit down for the floral foot ritual. Our feet are soaked in a bowl of warm water with milk and white rose petals. We then lay down on our soft, comfy treatment beds and it’s time for our massage. This is a relaxing treatment which soothes tired, aching muscles and uses different oils such as jasmine and juniper to help with circulation.
It’s then time for our Elemis Visible Brilliance facial. This is a holistic treatment using Elemis products to lift and brighten our complexion. It starts with a double cleanse, which is refreshing and thorough and leaves our skin feeling tender and soft. A papaya enzyme peel is used, which is essentially a scrub with papaya and pineapple that scrubs away dead skin and clarifies your complexion. Our face is then massaged to further promote circulation followed by two masks, a pro-collagen one and a super hydrating one. An eye cream and day cream are then applied to finish the treatment.
The results
Our face is plump, bright and our dark under-eye circles have gone. Our skin is also super smooth and has a lovely glow. The massage was unbelievably relaxing and really soothed our sore spots.
Pros
This is a beautiful spa with expert staff and the products used really work to relax the body and improve the complexion.
Cons
There’s no doubting that these treatments are expensive but they are well worth it.
