What to do at the Dubai World Cup

Time Out selects its highlights of the best tents, best bands and coolest after parties for the Dubai World Cup

Apron Views

The Irish Village
The World Cup wouldn’t be the same without people wearing ridiculous hats and ruddy faces in the IV tent. Naturally, it comes from the folk behind the Garhoud digs of the same name.

Bubble Lounge
Like Yin and Yang, the IV exists alongside its opposite – the Bubble Lounge’s champagne bar, frequented by the more dolled up, dressy set.

Wine Room
Located in the Style Arena, this is, unsurprisingly, billed as somewhere a little more upmarket. Expect olives, cheese and fancy crisps.

Style Arena

The annual BurJuman Style Stakes competition takes place here, where the Cup’s best dressed lady, best dressed couple and best hat are all chosen and unveiled. The Style Arena also contains other stands – such as the Ahlan! Glamour Studio, should you wish to be papped.

The Grandstand

Maktoum Terrace
This offers views of all the racing – especially the winning post and the parade room. In short, if you’re into racing, it’s where you want to be.

Silks
As the name suggests, this is a bar with soft, silky seating – and a pricy entrance fee. It also offers afternoon tea and canapés (which would never come out of silk, should you happen to dribble).
