Top places to go kayaking in Abu Dhabi

Check out these awesome spots for a paddle

Whenever someone new to Abu Dhabi asks for an outdoorsy activity to try here, someone inevitably pipes up with – have you been kayaking yet?

It’s a classic Abu Dhabi activity, and one of our favourite ways of exploring the natural environment we love so much. Whether you’re looking to explore the mangroves, paddle around fantastic landmarks or get in a workout under the stars, you should definitely add kayaking to your Abu Dhabi bucket list.

Beginners and those experienced with a paddle are welcome and there are loads of amazing places where you can get a life jacket on and use some elbow grease to explore.
Ready? Got your paddle prepped?

Eastern Mangroves, Abu Dhabi

The Eastern Mangroves are one of Abu Dhabi’s most stunning natural attractions. There’s a lot to love and the beauty of the mangrove park is clear to see even from dry land. But if you leap into a kayak (don’t actually leap though) you can paddle through the mangroves, see wildlife and even bank your kayak on the shore to enjoy a swim in the sea. Tours will also give you info on the local ecosystem, its significance to the local area and history in Abu Dhabi. There are special full-moon kayak tours, too. Keep your eyes peeled.

Jubail Mangrove Park, Abu Dhabi

Jubail Mangrove Park has been one of the most popular attractions in Abu Dhabi since it opened in January 2020. Aside from the winding paths through the mangroves, where you can go nature spotting and snap pictures for your Instagram page, there are a number of water sports on offer as well. Take to a kayak and you can go on a tour through the mangroves and admire the natural beauty from the water.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

There’s more than incredible art and architecture at The Louvre Abu Dhabi. Take to a kayak and you can admire the famous building from a new perspective by taking a tour around the structure by kayak. Tours are available at night when you can see the dome light up the night’s sky or at sunrise in the morning where you can start the day with a beautiful paddle around. Want to switch up your choice of water sport? The Louvre Abu Dhabi also has dragon boating available.

This park is packed full of ways to keep active, from the play parks and sports courts to the skate park and walking and cycling areas. You can also hop on an e-scooter to tour the park. By the waterside there are kayaks available to rent, giving you the chance to explore the mangroves or go out towards the sea for a unique view of the city.
