UAE announces closure of all shopping malls, markets and restaurants

Retail outlets to close from Tuesday March 24

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority have announced the closure of all shopping malls to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

All shopping centres, malls and fish, meat and vegetable markets have been ordered to close for a renewable period of two weeks from Tuesday March 24.

Supermarkets, pharmacies and food retail outlets are excluded from the closures and will remain open.

Restaurants will no longer be able to accept customers but are allowed to offer home delivery.

The decision will be reassessed in two weeks’ time and an update will be announced.
