Do you feel that frisson of excitement in the air? That’s because Middle East Film & Comic Con 2022 is around the corner. Fans across the city are planning their costumes and gathering merch to be autographed; it’s going to be an epic event.
The countdown for Comic Con is officially on, and the event will go from Friday March 4 to Sunday March 6 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). This year you can look forward to a powerful celebrity line-up, incredible gaming tournaments, creative workshops, exclusive reveals and collectibles and, of course, a gathering of passionate fans.
If you like comics, movies, anime or cosplay you’re going to love this event. You’re going to want to check out all the zones at MEFCC, including competitions, live music and performances, exclusive screenings, limited-edition merch, international artists and some of the biggest film and TV stars from around the world.
Celebrity line-up
Wondering which celebrities are making an appearance at Comic Con 2022? You can expect to see Joe Bernthal, aka The Punisher; Giancarlo Esposito, aka El Presidente from Far Cry 6; Michael Rooker, leader of the Ravagers, wielder of the Yaka arrow; Nathalie Emmanuel, aka Khaleesi’s bestie from HBO’s mega show, Game of Thrones; Charles Martinet, the nostalgic voice behind our beloved Super Mario Bros; Ming-Na Wen, a Marvel hero, Disney princess and Boba Fett’s most trusted ally; Kevin Conroy, the legendary voice actor of the ultimate DC Superhero, The Batman; and Irish actor set to appear in The Batman, Barry Keoghan. Artist Alley
MEFCC 2022 will also have an epic gallery of artwork and innovation in the Artist Alley bringing together 200+ local artists and a line-up of international artists such as Disney artist James C. Mulligan. This space is a world of creativity, imagination, colours and expressions. Get ready to be inspired, support your artist community and grow your collections with unique artwork from your favourite shows, video games, comics, anime, superheroes, k-pop and j-pop artists!
MEFCC Theatre
MEFCC hosts the region’s boutique Comic Con cinema experience. The on-screen storytelling and off-screen atmosphere give guests a show to remember. The theatre is an ode to cinema with a hub of exclusive screenings from film and anime. This space also hosts various interactive sessions, including immersive panel sessions with celebrity guests, casting calls, Q&As and lectures on the arts.
Workshops
MEFCC has loads of awesome free-to-attend workshops that cover an array of topics in the comic and pop culture space. You can take a comic drawing master class, or get tips on a career in comics.
