Many travel plans have been disrupted due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
On Sunday night (March 22) it was announced that the UAE is suspending all inbound and outbound passenger flights for two weeks.
However, many airlines flying from and to the UAE have put plans in place to help passengers change their flight dates without change fees, and offer other options for cancellations.

AirArabia
Due to recent events, the Emirati low-cost airline is offering all passengers with flights being cancelled the chance to change their flights to another date or destination without any change fees, with fare differences still applied. For those who wish to cancel their flights, they can at no extra cost and get credit of the same value to be used within 12 months on any Air Arabia flight.
Head to the Air Arabia site to change flights, which can be done up to 24 hours before the flights departure.
Emirates
Dubai’s flagship airline is giving flexibility for all passengers to reschedule their trips with no change fees. This applies to any booking made on or before March 31, 2020, with the option to adjust travel dates at zero charges. Fare differences still apply, meaning Emirates will charge the difference between the cost of the previous and the new ticket.
Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways has launched a new programme to help customers to rearrange their plans. Etihad Credit will give guests the option to delay their travel plans and get a free cancellation to the value of their original flight to use towards their next trip. The programme will be available to all passengers scheduled to travel with the airline before June 20, 2020. Passengers have until September 30, 2020, to rebook their flight for travel until the end of the year. Find out more right here.
flydubai
Dubai’s budget airline is offering rebookings and refunds to all passengers who booked between March 10 and March 31, 2020. To get it done, all passengers have to do is head to the ‘manage booking’ section to change travel dates, time, upgrade to Business Class or update details.For those changing their travel plans, no modification fee will apply on bookings made between March 10 and March 31, 2020.
British Airways
If your flight is booked with UK’s flagship airline, it recently announced it has suspended its flights to or from London City Airport on to services operating to or from London Heathrow or London Gatwick Saturday April 4. In light of this, British Airways will be offering passengers with a flight booked up till Sunday May 31 to change their destination or date of travel without any change fee. However, fare differences will still apply. For those who want to cancel, they can can claim a voucher for future travel up to 12 months. Find out more right here.
Gulf Air
Bahrain’s flagship airline has introduced a new initiative for passengers who have booked or looking to book tickets amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Until the end of March, those purchasing tickets or who have already booked flights can expect unlimited changes on flight bookings with no change fees. The policy is applicable to new tickets issued until Tuesday March 31, regardless passenger’s travel date. Fare differences will still apply. The unlimited changes without fees will apply for all future departure dates on the same route, and is applicable for all fare types. Changes can be made by visiting Gulf Air’s smartphone app and heading to ‘Manage My Booking’, heading to www.gulfair.com or by contacting the Gulf Air Contact Centre. As for those who have already booked flights, the same will apply to all our passengers who have booked their tickets to travel this year.
Qantas
Australia’s flagship carrier has announced that any customers holding tickets for domestic and international travel can now cancel their booking and get the value of the ticket as flight credit. The new policy is available until March 31, 2020 for travel booked up to May 31, 2020. You can find out more and cancel flights right here.
