Step-by-step
Our therapist Tia asks us if we have any health issues or any areas of concern. She enquires how we would like to feel after the massage. We explain that we are suffering from jet lag and feel as if we have water retention because we are feeling sluggish. We change into a sleek robe and slippers and head into the treatment room which is serene and luxurious. We hop on the massage table and slip in between the silky sheets to start the massage. Tia uses a massage oil from the well known Aromatherapy Associates brand that contains juniper berry to help with eliminating toxins from the body. She uses kneading and pressure techniques to try to get rid of the knots around our neck, shoulders and back and it feels blissful. She also works hard around our stomach, hips and thighs using downward movements to try and reduce the water retention. Tia also massages our head, feet and hands which is a real treat and relaxes us further. After she has massaged our legs we can immediately appreciate how light they feel. We then chill out in the relaxation area with a camomile tea and a magazine.
The results
We are so soothed and chilled out at the end of this treatment that we stay lying on the massage bed for a good 15 minutes afterwards. We feel refreshed, calm and all of the terrible tension in our back has been relieved.
Pros
Apart from the amazing massage the spa is stunning with great facilities and therapists. It also has a fun eco chic vibe to it. The spa is also about general well-being and not just treatments so they are happy to give you advice on your health concerns and how the treatments can help. We slept very well after the massage and loved that it is personalised to each client.
Cons
We are quite sore the next day, particularly in our back and shoulder areas, but this is to be expected as we asked to be detoxed. Make sure you drink plenty of water after the treatment to help with flushing your system.
