The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi reopens with new immersive art experience

The popular creative spot is reopening for the first time since 2020

Immersive art is taking over the world in 2022, and Abu Dhabi is leading the way with a new immersive documentary. The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi is screening the Middle East’s premiere of a live documentary: 32 Sounds by Sam Green.

Even more exciting? The event marks The Arts Center’s reopening to the public with a line-up of shows and events to look forward to this season.

Are you curious about just what an immersive documentary is? 32 Sounds is an immersive documentary combined with a sensory experience. The screening will be accompanied by live music by JD Samson and onstage narration by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Green, creating a uniquely immersive film experience.

The film was selected to open the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film Festival and will be screened at The Red Theatre in its “live cinema” form. Each audience member gets a set of headphones, allowing you to experience the binaural sound mix.

32 Sounds premieres in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday March 9 and Thursday March 10 at 8pm at the Red Theatre. Tickets are Dhs100 for adults over the age of 18; kids aged 12 to 18 watch for free.

It was also included in the Whitney Biennial and has screened widely around the world.
