A ladies-only virtual running challenge is taking place in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Sports Council is encouraging women in the UAE to take part in an at-home run

Virtual exercise has fast become our new normal as we maintain our health and fitness during the current lockdown. But to encourage more women to get active, Abu Dhabi Sports Council is hosting a ladies-only virtual run to take part in at home.

The Sports Council has teamed up with the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Academy to launch the initiative which will take place on Wednesday April 15.

Ladies can choose between a three-, five- or ten-kilometre run or walk and can complete the distance on a treadmill, in a garden, on a balcony, in their living room or anywhere else in their homes.

To keep track of scores and ensure everyone has been marked, you will then be asked to take a photo of your run time displayed on a watch or smart phone, and send it to the event team at events@gulfmultisport.com.

If you fancy getting involved, all you have to do is register at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council website. Once you’re all signed up, you’ll receive an email with further information and instructions.

For men who are interested, Abu Dhabi Sports Council is also hosting two other virtual runs later this week on April 17 and April 18, both of which are open for men and women to join. For more details regarding these dates, click here.
