Abu Dhabi’s Al Salam Street project update…

Construction work on part of the Al Salam Street Project is about 86 percent complete, it was reported on Thursday.

The section of work covers the stretch of road from Sheikh Zayed Bridge up to Al Salam Street-Street No. 31 intersection, the official news agency WAM reports.

About 1,000 workers are involved in this part of the project, which covers a distance of 4,102m and includes the construction of two 850m tunnels.

Abu Dhabi Municipality and police officials began the project in a bid to improve traffic flow on Al Salam Street and the Eastern Ring Road.

The project is spilt into four contracts, the first of which runs from the intersection of Hazza Bin Zayed Street up to Mina, according to the report.

The third contract involves the construction of a 850m tunnel and a bridge leading to Al Reem Island, which 1,200 people are reported to be working on. While the fourth contract for street expansion work stretches from Al Salam Street No. 31 intersection to No. 19 intersection.

Abu Dhabi Municipality recently opened Delma-Sea Palace Road in both directions, WAM reports.
