UAE film maker launches talent spotter website…

Imagenation Abu Dhabi announced on Tuesday the launch of www.emiratifilmstar.com, an online portal which aims to discover the region’s untapped acting talent.

From June 22, Emiratis and Arab expatriates in the UAE interested in auditioning for the company’s films are invited to visit the website and apply.
Those who meet the requirements have the potential of being invited for a casting call with the film’s casting director, the film maker said in a statement.

EmiratiFilmStar.com will be in both English and Arabic and will act as a central resource for Imagenation Abu Dhabi’s casting directors as they scout the area for new and fresh faces as well as established actors to fill these coveted roles, it added.

Stefan Brunner, COO Imagenation Abu Dhabi, said: “The introduction of www.emiratifilmstar.com follows our recent announcement relating to our international internship programme, and reinforces our commitment to discovering and fostering a pool of new talent.

“It is our intention to encourage and support fully those individuals with natural acting ability, in order to ensure that both on and off screen the standards are best-in-class.”

The company last month revealed a slate of Emirati film projects that will be developed, financed and produced by the company over the next two years.

The movie-making firm’s schedule includes six films covering a range of genres – including the drama Million’s Poet, the horror thriller Djinn, the adventure comedy Alaska, the romantic comedy Monsoon and the romance Alis and Aishas.

The first film to be developed – a coming of age movie, Sea Shadow – was announced last month at the Cannes Film Festival and will begin shooting in the UAE in winter 2010/2011.
