Public parking in Dubai will now be free on Sundays

A change by the Executive Council Resolution means that free public parking will no longer be on Fridays

Heading to Dubai on the weekend? If you’re driving, you will be able to get free parking on Sundays now.

A decision was made on Monday March 28 to amend Dubai’s free parking day. This update notes that public parking and public parking lots will now be free on Sundays, instead of Fridays.

Many residents in Dubai have been anticipating this change, following the move to a Monday-Friday working week and Saturday-Sunday weekend in January.

The new amendment to the resolution of free parking states that paid parking will be collected between the hours of 8am and 10pm daily, on all days except Sundays and public holidays.

Multi-storey parking facilities will still be able to charge parking fees round the clock and for the entirety of the week, without a free parking period.

Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued an update to Clause 6 of Executive Council Resolution No. (5) of 2016.

This change was reported by Dubai Media Office.

Vehicles can be parked in public parking areas for a maximum of four consecutive hours in roadside parking slots; 24 hours in parking lots; and 30 days in multi-storey parking facilities.

The Resolution is effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
