The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT) has announced that all hotels in the capital must install thermal cameras in the latest efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the region.
A circular sent to hotels in the capital says the mandatory thermal cameras will be provided by DCT.
The message says that they are already being used across the city for the early detection of people with elevated body temperatures, to monitor quarantined people and monitor people in close contact with individuals affected, as well as affected areas.
The cicular says: “To enhance further the emirate’s efforts to ensure public health and safety, all hotel and tourism establishments are now required to install thermal cameras and complete a system integration with the premises existing camera networks.”
The DCT say that as well as providing the thermal camera systems and hardware, it will lay out guidelines and procedures in order to facilitate a smooth implementation process for everyone and inspectors will also visit all hotels in the city to ensure the thermal cameras have been set up.
