UAE residents encouraged to share their art to create historic murals

Play your part in new public artworks

We’re living through unprecedented times here in the UAE due to the spread of COVID-19.

Most of us are self-isolating and staying home, however thousands of frontline workers and key employees are still going out in UAE to work.

In order to document this time and bring people across the UAE together, a new creative initiative has been launched to create large public artworks across the nation.

The UAE’s Art Painting Lab is calling on all people in the country to submit a piece of virtual art to all be used to make large mural – and potentially one in each emirate.

Using the collaborative art, the murals will tell the story of life during the time of COVID-19 and share individual stories from children and adults living in the UAE.

“Historically, art renaissances occur during tremendous events and often incredible art comes out of them,” said Sam Saliba, founder of Art Painting Lab.

“We hope you will send us your artworks, there is no judgement, good or bad work. Paint like no one is watching.”

Everyone is encouraged to contribute no matter what artistic skills they possess and you have until June 1 to submit your work.

With the goal of using 2,020 pieces of art (in recognition of the year), all artworks are welcome but the work should be your own and carry the message of hope and optimism.

To submit your art, post it on social media using the hashtag #UnitedArtEmirates or by emailing hello@artpaintinglab.com.
