If you live in the UAE, have a 4×4 and fancy hitting the sandy dunes of the desert but aren’t quite sure where to start (and don’t want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere) – off-roading clubs could be just the ticket.

After all, the number one rule when it comes to desert driving, is to go in convoy.

Abu Dhabi 4×4

Abu Dhabi 4×4 is a welcoming community of car-aficionados and off-road adventurers that aims to create a family friendly environment where members can discover, learn and love the art of off-roading. With up to three adventures every weekend to facilitate the demand, Abu Dhabi 4×4 ensures that each adventure is carefully planned and managed by experienced professionals.

Although based in Abu Dhabi, this club organises events throughout the Emirates. Every level from newbie to advanced explorer is catered to; whether it’s a beginner’s trip in Al Khatim, driving the dunes in Liwa, camping in Oman or simply meeting up for a barbecue in the desert.

Almost4x4

With more than 4600 members, Almost4x4 is one of the regions biggest off-roading clubs. In this club, you’ll find members have an array of different skills; including mechanics (always handy in an off-roading situation) and those with advanced navigation skills who will carve out the path for the sandy adventure. Catering to various levels, Almost4x4 is accessible to both beginners and the more advanced off-roaders. Almost4x4 also hosts some interesting events such as ‘eggs in the basket,’ where drivers are given GPS coordinates and they must drive to the point unassisted to test their navigation skills.

Carnity Off-Road Club

The Desert Fellas group offers two types of off-roading sessions for beginners – a session called Off-Road Discovery (from Dhs360) is a consolidated dune-driving course for 4×4 owners in UAE, whilst the Basic Off-Road Training (Dhs1240) session offers more comprehensive desert driving training. Join the group and you’ll be able to attend the various events and drives that take place regularly.

Desert Hawks

The UAE Desert Hawks is a community of off-road enthusiasts from across the Emirates who enjoy exploring different terrains such as deserts, mountains and wadis. Created in 2014, the Desert Hawks are a family-friendly off-roading club who organise fun drives, camping activities and adventure drives for those looking for a little bit of fun. The club’s members range from 18 to over 70 years of age and span across all nationalities, with one interest at the core – safe and fun off-roading.

UAE OFF-ROADERS

The UAE OFF-ROADERS is a family-orientated club based in Abu Dhabi. Created in 2009, the club aims to promote the safe driving of four-wheel drives in the desert. From off-roading rookies to more advanced desert drivers, you’ll be able to discover various trails ‘from mild to wild’. UAE OFF-ROADERS organises a variety of trips to suit all levels from ‘rookie-runs’ to advanced trips, as well as organised camping, wadi and mountain exploration trips.
