Eta Aquarids meteor shower could be visible in the UAE tonight

Make sure you head out into your garden to view it

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower could be visible in the UAE tonight.

The shower, which is created by debris from the comet Halley, takes place every year in April and May.

This year, it’s set to peak between the evening of Tuesday May 5 and the morning of Wednesday May 6, with an average of 30 meteors an hour.

It’s set to be a sight to behold as meteors from the comet Halley are fast, meaning they can leave glowing trains behind that can last for minutes.

Comet Halley is considered to be the most famous comet, and even features in the Bayeux tapestry.

How can I watch the Eta Aquarids meteor shower?

According to NASA, to view the Eta Aquarids you should head out into your back garden.

Bring along a sleeping bag, blanket or lawn chair, and lie flat on your back with your feet facing east.

After about 30 minutes in the dark, your eyes will have adjusted enough and you’ll begin to see the meteors, with the show lasting until dawn.

Don’t have a garden? Try and watch from your balcony or window.

Enjoy the show!
