Louvre Abu Dhabi to launch weekly poetry readings on social media

See poets recite work inspired by the museum’s collection

Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced a new series of performances on social media.

Each week, the museum will present a poet who uses an item from Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection as the inspiration for their work.

On Wednesday afternoons, the poems will be performed on Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Instagram page as a story where they will remain for 24 hours.

The works, performed by prominent UAE poets, aim to reflect the ‘message of Ramadan values of hope and resilience’.

First, on Wednesday May 5, poet Hassan Ali Al Najjar will read a poem inspired by the piece bowl with inscription at 5pm.

More readings will be announced each week as poetry and art combine for a cultural collaboration.

Louvre Abu Dhabi also recently expanded its digital offerings on the museum’s mobile app.
