Why you need to check out the new look and flavours at Rangoli

Partner Content: there’s a refurbished space and reinvented menu to explore at this top Indian spot

Hungry for fantastic Indian food? Looking for something new to try in the capital? Rangoli at Yas Island Rotana is revealing a new look and a new menu just in time for the summer. The reinvented menu is all about North and South Indian cuisine with a surprising twist and we can’t wait to try it.

This is the first time Rangoli has revamped its look since its opening in 2010. Embracing happiness, positivity and liveliness the restaurant is welcoming guests with a giant urli with a floating flower at the centre of the restaurant.

It’s all about royal vibes as you flow into the vibrant space with Indian pop-art adorning the walls. Don’t miss taking an Insta-worthy snap on the swing or in front of the velvety new décor. Rangoli has been sectioned in quadrants of colours, flavours and dining types.

There are six areas to choose from including the rang-e-bahar and rang-e-khass for private dining, the rang-e-mehfil for family dining, the rang-e-mehal for fine dining, the shisha verandah and the rang-e-star for al fresco poolside dining.

You can also watch the expert chefs fire out freshly cooked dishes from the show kitchen with head Chef Qureshi leading the brigade.

New signature dishes include crab shorba cooked in curry leaf and coconut milk and seasoned with Indian spices; machi tawa masala (a whole sizzling seabass with spicy yogurt marinade), house specialty raan-e-awadh (a whole baby lamb leg, slow-roasted and sprinkled with lime juice and tossed in clarified butter) and lobster masala fry, which is a masala-coated jumbo lobster seared on the griddle and tossed with onion, ground spices and coriander.

Still hungry for dessert? (Hats off to you). Sweet options include moong dal halwa cooked in desi ghee and thin sugar syrup with saffron, green cardamom and dry nuts; and gulab jamun kunafa infused with cardamom and served in a kunafa nest.

If you’re at Rangoli for drinks, the expert mixologists have a variety of mixed drinks on the roster including kumkum, half moon, tulsi and bho-gol inspired by India’s culture, art and colour.

Open daily, 6pm-midnight. Yas Island Rotana, Yas Island (02 656 4000).
