If you often despair at having to give odd directions to visitors and delivery people to help them find your abode, you will be happy to know that by 2015 every home in the emirate of Abu Dhabi will have its own systemised street address. You may have noticed that work has already begun replacing street names with a uniform system featuring the number of a building, the street name, city, country and postcode. There will be more than 200,000 unique building addresses and 12,000 new street signs added, and the system will be similar to the one in the UK. It will cover 120 districts in Abu Dhabi, 56 in Al Gharbia and 68 in Al Ain, and aims to make the emirate’s streets more easily navigable. Good news for when you next order a takeaway.
