Explained: how to get your documents attested in the UAE

From today, the process can be started online

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation (MoFAIC) has implemented a change in the process of document attestation starting from today, Monday July 18.

Previously, in order to begin the process of attesting documents from within the UAE, you would have to go to the Ministry’s Happiness Service Centres in person.

However, you can now access the document attestation service online via the official MoFAIC website or mobile app.

To access the attestation online, all you have to do is login or register on the app or website, fill in your personal details and choose to have the physical document picked up from your home or office, and submit the application for review.

Once the application for attestation is processed and the application and document meets all the requirements, you will then receive your attested document.

Throughout the process, you can check the status of your application through the website or app.

The cost for document attestation remains the same, with personal documents requiring a fee of Dhs150, and attestation for commercial certificates costing Dhs2,000.

You’ll be able to get an express service, wherein you’ll get your attested document within four hours, or you can go for the regular service, which takes up to three days.

Based on which services and delivery options you choose, expect the additional fees to cost between Dhs40 to Dhs300.
