• Visit the area night and day, with and without the agent if possible
• Talk to your potential new neighbours to suss out the street
• Get everything in writing
• Only sign documents in English
• If a document is in Arabic, get it translated before signing it
• Keep a copy of your contract
• Keep receipts of all your deposits (flat, gas, internet etc) in one place
• Only move in once the air conditioning, electricity, gas, water and internet are connected
• Inform your landlord the day before your two-month notice period is up to give them as little time as possible to request a rent hike
