Police launch child seatbelt campaign

Free child safety seats to be handed out at Marina Mall

In an attempt to reduce the horrifically high number of road injuries in the capital, Abu Dhabi Police has teamed up with Abu Dhabi Motors to launch the ‘Stay Alert, Stay Alive’ campaign.

Taking place this week, until March 19, the campaign is part of GCC Traffic Week, which seeks to enhance the safety of motorists and pedestrians by raising awareness in the community about traffic regulations and measures.

At the beach visitor’s car park on the Corniche, police have created a miniature driving track where youngsters can drive replica BMWs and Minis around. While at Marina Mall, an Abu Dhabi Police Zone has been set up, where they will be handing out some 2,000 bolster safety seats for children. Other activities there include a 3D theatre playing road safety films, a video wall featuring key road safety messages and a simulator test designed specifically to find the UAE’s Safest Driver.

Arno Husselmann, Abu Dhabi Motors general manager said of the campaign: ‘The simplest way for drivers and passengers to protect themselves is to buckle-up every time – and we feel we need to work harder on encouraging more people to do so.’
