UAE residents who want to fly out of Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Sharjah must apply for a permit before travelling.
There are seven reasons given by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) for people to travel.
The news was announced by Salem Al Zaabi, acting chief of state for emergency, crisis and disaster in the UAE at a briefing on Wednesday, July 1.
He said people can travel for medical treatment, studies, business trips, diplomatic missions, humanitarian reasons and those who want to return to their home countries.
It was also shared on the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) Twitter account.

The application process on the ICA website asks for supporting documents to prove the reason for travel and has a Dhs50 fee attached to it.
Within 48 hours of boarding the outbound flight, everyone must have a negative test for COVID-19 and have downloaded the Al Hosn app.
Before landing, people need to fill out a health declaration form and follow the precautionary measures of the destination country for the duration of their stay.
Upon return, another COVID-19 test is required and everyone will be required to self-isolate for up to 14 days (depending on the country you’ve been in).
