Is there anything better than revisiting your beloved childhood memories through film? Luckily for you, Abu Dhabi’s popular Yas Movies in the Park is returning this autumn, and it promises to be an absolute blast from the past with ’80s films.
Taking place on the first weekend of November when the weather will be sweeter than your Nonna’s tiramisu, the free event will have the chance to see classic films on huge outdoor screens.
Today, Yas Movies in the Park has finally announced the list of six films it will be showing in November.
Yas Movies in the Park will showcase six nostalgic movies that will transport you to the wonders of the ’80s, including The Lion King, Footloose, Indiana Jones, The Little Mermaid, Back to the Future and Die Hard. What’s more, FOotloose will also turn into an interactive event as it transforms into a live theatre show.
The festival will also feature all of your favourite ’80s music, fashion and technology. You’ll also have the chance to play arcade games, like neon pool tables, pinball machines and retro video games.

What’s more (yes, there’s more), fashion-lovers will be given the chance to switch up their look in a makeover booth. Whether you’re a high-waisted girl or prefer the ripped denim style, there should be a retro look for you.
Yas Movies in the Park 2022 is taking place at the Yas Links Golf Club. The venue will be transformed into a neon ’80s Miami-themed wonderland – think bright lights, plants, and a whole lot of pink.
There will also be several juice bars dotted around the venue to keep you nice and hydrated, as well as food trucks to whet your appetite.

Yas Movies in the Park will begin showcasing some family-friendly films earlier in the day, kicking off on day one with The Lion King at 5.30pm before ramping it up for the adults in the evening with Footloose at 7.30pm. To complete the day, you’ll be able to watch Harrison Ford become the iconic Indian Jones as he seeks the Ark of the Covenant in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark at 9.30pm.
On the second day, go and enjoy timeless classic The Little Mermaid at 5.30pm, followed by Back to the Future at 7.30pm then watch in terror as Bruce Willis plays John McClaine in the classic thriller Die Hard at 9.30pm.
