Back in March shopping centres and markets were closed to stop the spread of COVID-19.
But now these sites will be allowed to reopen following the introduction of a number of preventative and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of vendors and visitors to markets across the city.
Abu Dhabi Center for Waste Management (Tadweer) has carried out sanitisation and cleaning at all of the sites that are reopening.
Visitors will only be permitted to enter and exit from different points to regulate movement and avoid congestion in marketplaces.
Clear signage showing social distancing and safety information will also be displayed.
To operate, the markets must ensure that customers and staff are wearing masks and gloves, conduct temperature checks and limit the capacity of people allowed to shop at any time.
