Abu Dhabi schools could return to distance learning if COVID-19 cases are suspected

Safety of students and staff to take priority

Students could return to remote learning in Abu Dhabi if COVID-19 cases are suspected.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee and Department of Health – Abu Dhabi have announced that precautionary measures to shift schools to distance learning will be taken in the case of suspected COVID-19 cases.

Many students and staff returned to schools this week as the new term began in Abu Dhabi, however some students will start the academic year distance learning.

Should any cases of COVID-19 be detected in schools, preventative measures will be taken and parents will be informed immediately.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters called on staff, teachers, parents and students to be responsible and declare any COVID-19 symptoms or suspected cases to schools.

Anyone, including staff, teachers, parents or students experiencing symptoms are required to stay away from schools and contact the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to confirm symptoms.

The committee also commented that everyone has a responsibility to the public to ensure safety and take precautionary measures to protect others.
