IKEA to open second store in Abu Dhabi at Al Wahda Mall in November

It will be a Downtown branch of the Swedish shop

IKEA will open their second branch in Abu Dhabi on November 18.

Plans to open another IKEA store in the capital were announced back in March.

The store was originally scheduled to open in July but was pushed back due to malls closing in Abu Dhabi to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Now the new store is set to open in November as part of UAE-wide expansion plans.

Spread across over 2,000 square metres on the first floor of Al Wahda Mall, the store will be smaller than the Yas Island branch but a more convenient location for those living downtown.

“We are proud to welcome the world-renowned IKEA brand that would definitely be loved by the residents in the heart of the city who need ready-to-assemble furniture and home essentials,” Ashraf Ali executive director of LuLu Group, which owns Al Wahda Mall, said in March.

“IKEA would perfectly complement the lifestyle and entertainment offerings of Al Wahda Mall to make every shopping experience complete.”
