Tourists are now allowed to return to Abu Dhabi and other emirates

Visas on arrival have been on hold for all emirates other than Dubai since March

Tourists will be able to return to Abu Dhabi from today (Thursday September 24), according to the UAE’s federal immigration service said.

Borders have been closed to international holidaymakers since March in Abu Dhabi and all of the other emirates except Dubai.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) said the move would “support recovery plans of the country’s tourism sector and economy”.

The news was released through the UAE’s official news agency WAM.

The statement said a range of visas would be available with the exception of work permits for people moving to the UAE for the first time.

Abu Dhabi has been operating on a different set of regulations to Dubai, which has its own immigration service and allowed tourists to return in June.
