Think you have the survival instincts of famed British adventurer Bear Grylls? Well, you can test your mettle soon enough on of the UAE’s highest mountain.
The world’s first Bear Grylls Explorers Camp (BGEC) is coming to Ras Al Khaimah, along with Bear Grylls Survival Academy’s first camp accommodation, and it’s set on Jebel Jais.
Set to open this October, the globally-renowned UK brand’s survival courses is set to debut in the Middle East, run by UK experts trained at the Survival Academy.
Adventurers can expect to be exposed to practical and extreme survival techniques necessary to survive some of the toughest terrains, for half-day sessions (three to four hours), eight-hour and even 24-hour options.
Activities include how to make a fire in the wild, building emergency shelters, learning the best ways to use a knife for survival, dedicated practical instructions on remote medical trauma treatment, navigation techniques and extreme weather survival.
Oh, and with an element of surprise. You’ll never know what might happen.
As for the camps, there will be a 20-container accommodation, set to welcome visitors in 2021. Designed to host up to three guests with basic self-catering, it includes a private barbecue on a private outdoor terrace to prepare meals.
