Tom Cruise is filming in Abu Dhabi

The Hollywood star has been shooting a new movie in the capital

Abu Dhabi has played a starring role in a number of blockbuster films and TV shows over the years.

And it looks like the list is about to grow as Tom Cruise revealed he has been shooting in the city this week.

Speculation is growing that the mystery film involved is the latest in the spectacular Mission Impossible series, but it has not been confirmed.

The star posted his gratitude to the UAE capital to his 6.7million followers on Twitter.

Thank you to everyone in Abu Dhabi for the amazing help and cooperation. Our filming here continues to be a wonderful experience.

It’s not the first time Cruise has shot a movie in the UAE, with 2011’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol featuring the Dubai desert and the Burj Khalifa.

While a host of other star names have made the trip to Abu Dhabi for their latest money-spinning blockbuster.

Films shot partly in the capital include Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), Fast & Furious 7 (2015) and Brad Pitt’s satirical comedy War Machine (2017).
