Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways schedules first commercial flights between UAE and Israel

It’s the first airline in the GCC to connect the countries

Etihad Airways has become the first airline in the GCC to schedule a passenger flight between the UAE and Israel.

The flight, operated in partnership with Maman group, will depart Tel Aviv on October 19 and make the three-and-a-half hour flight to Abu Dhabi.

The return journey will depart the UAE capital on October 21.

The flight will bring a group of tourism industry experts, travel agents, cargo agents and others to the UAE to experience Abu Dhabi, the UAE and explore the UAE’s tourism industry.

“[This] flight is a historic opportunity for the development of strong partnerships here in the UAE, and in Israel, and Etihad as the national airline, is delighted to be leading the way,” said Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, chairman, Etihad Aviation Group.

“We are just starting to explore the long-term potential of these newly forged relationships, which will be sure to greatly benefit the economies of both nations, particularly in the areas of trade and tourism, and ultimately the people who call this diverse and wonderful region home.”

Etihad Airways has also recently announced student discounts on tickets for those in education and those travelling with students from Abu Dhabi.

In addition, all flights with Ethad Airways until the end of 2020 will have PCR tests covered and passengers will be provided with COVID-19 insurance to cover medical and quarantine costs.
