We’ve all been down the YouTube rabbit hole.

You click on a video, then the next, and before you know it you’ve spent hours watching videos you didn’t think you’d ever want to see.

There are more than 5 billion videos on the platform and one billion hours of content is watched by YouTube’s two billion members every single day.

Here are some great YouTube channels worth subscribing to.

FOR A LAUGH
FailArmy

If there’s one thing the internet certainly enjoys it’s a large dose of schadenfreude, the joy of watching other people’s misfortunes. Whether it’s watching as a giant ice sculpture takes a tumble, when a person unwittingly steps into a swimming pool or a stunt gone wrong, FailArmy brings you weekly, monthly and annual roundups where you can watch great plans go awry. Sure, some people do end up causing injury to themselves but the same individuals upload those clips to YouTube where we can all get a little bit of entertainment from their misfortune.

FOR WHETTING YOUR APPETITE
First We Feast

It’s a foodie channel first and foremost, but it’s not white table cloths and haute cuisine that’s featured. Think more brilliant burgers, terrific tacos and a few scoops of ice cream. The channel is also home to one of the most-watched series on the platform, Hot Ones. It’s a simple concept, famous people, including Post Malone, Scarlett Johansson, Gordon Ramsey and Dua Lipa, take on a series of chicken wings that get gradually spicier and try to reach the end, all the while doing an interview with host Sean Evans. Like many people, we are hooked.

FOR SKIN-CARE TIPS
Hyram

Suffering from a severe case of maskne (AKA breakouts triggered by wearing a face mask)? US-based YouTuber Hyram is a self-proclaimed skin care specialist boasting an impressive 3.7 million YouTube subscribers. His videos cover everything from reacting to celebrities skin-care routines to discussing products he loves (and hates), new discoveries, pocket-friendly products, skin-care Q&As and even tips on how to prevent and get rid of the dreaded maskne. His voice is soothing and he generally comes across as a lovely lad which makes for some easy watching. You’ll most likely want to purchase everything he raves about so if you’re watching your dirhams, be warned.

FOR WANNABE SLEUTHS
Kendall Rae

The true crime genre on YouTube is quite niche but if you’re a fan murder-mysteries, Kendall Rae is a must-watch. Her detailed and well-researched videos cover a wide ranging of topics including unsolved mysteries, strange incidents and more. If your “Top Picks” on Netflix include Unsolved Mysteries, The Confession Tapes and Making a Murderer, this is the YouTube channel for you.

FOR MUSIC FANS
NPR Music

NPR Music is home to one of our favourite web series to date, Tiny Desk Concerts. The concept is simple, some of the biggest and best musical acts in the world, and some lesser known acts, come to the NPR Offices and perform a concert in, you guessed it, a tiny desk space. Over the years we’ve enjoyed loads of performances from the likes of Harry Styles, Anderson Paak, Wu Tang Clan, Run The Jewels, Taylor Swift, Daughter, Hobo Johnson, The Arcs and even the one and only Sesame Street.
